Back to Reality

Since school has started again, I am back to the madness that is my school life. And that means waking up early. This morning, 5:50. Fantastic. Although I couldn't quite pull myself out of bed until 6. A quick blurb on my morning. As soon as I stepped out of my room, I realized that all of my school clothes were drying in my sisters room (all the clothes get hung up in her room) and she wasn't out of her room yet. So I moved slowly in the bathroom, and walked back to my room to pack up my things, and check my email. By the time I was done, she was out of her room, so I could sneak in and take some clothes, and run out the door.

This morning I was feeling particularly lazy, so I decided to walk to the bus stop. As it turns out, that was probably a mistake, because the bus took forever to get to the stop, and I didn't get to school until 10 to 7, which is rather late for me. I was a little bit at a loss of what to do, but because I brought my computer with me to school, I finished writing my blog and checking my email. I tried to get some music from my friend, but for some reason, it just wasn't working.

When we got to Ma Lao Shi's Chinese class, I immediately asked for our tests back, but she didn't give them. Apparently, the highest grade in our class what 39/50. Oops. I'm a little upset about that because I thought that I had done really well on that test, but apparently not. During our 2nd Chinese class, our teacher just reviewed, because we have a test tomorrow. That should be fun.

Righ after, we had a few minutes of break, and then a school meeting, as we do every morning. Jeff Bissell gave us lots of little conversations, but went on a fairly violent and passionate rant about Facebook. I wonder what started that whole rant, because he was way too passionate to just be talking. Interesting. We also heard about how we have to do 20 hours of community service. But that should be fun, because I can go teach English or something.

Right after that, I had break, but because today is Monday, I had a tutorial. Normally, I am happy about that, but I would rather have the time to study, especially today. But today, with Shen Lao Shi (with who we have a test tomorrow) helped us study for the test, and went over all the mistakes we had made. It was very helpful.

Right after, we had English. I told my teacher that depending on the grade I got on the essay we were getting back, I may or may not apply to Middlebury. Then I got the essay back, and it was quickly decided that unless I wrote another essay, I would not be applying to Middlebury. But, there is more to the story. When he gave us the prompt, he didn't explain it, and didn't help us. When I showed him my essay, he said it would be fine, and then all of a sudden, decided it wasn't. He also seemed to grade our essays' based on a different prompt than he gave us. Let me tell you, it is really helpful to have him explain the prompt after he gives us our essays' back. Not. I had to run out of that room at the end of the class before I strangled him. That put me in a little bit of a bad mood (although he said that if I rewrote it, he would regrade it and I could turn that in for Middlebury. I'm too mad at him to do that right now though.)

Lunch was up next, and I was so hungry that I could have eaten an elephant, and I prepared myself to brave the cafeteria food. But luckily, I found Jamie, and he suggested we go just outside the school gates for lunch. It was an excellent idea. There are these little hole in the wall places, and I got a sandwich and this egg wrap thing for less 7 yuan (about a dollar.) It was so good, and warm, and scrumptious. Just the thing to pick me up. Since I can't eat ice cream any more...

After lunch was Chinese history and Calculus , respectfully, and they passed without anything worth talking about happening (except my math teacher mentioned that I sound like a lawyer. I wonder when my teachers are going to stop saying that to me? Thanks mom.) Then I was free. Sort of. I am trying out this new thing where I stay at school after school is out and do my homework. I was thinking maybe I would get everything done if I did it that way. So I moved to the Fishbowl (the student hang out room, with tables and stuff) and set up shop. And then so did 8 other people.

My friend (Chris) had just gotten a care package from home, and so he busted out the goodies. We split probably 4 airheads, and then he made me try a SlimJim (which is the most disgusting bit of cooked grease I have ever had in my life. Never eat them. Ever.) Even though I was distracted, I did manage to get some things done. I made Chinese flashcards, finished most of my Chinese homework, and got through a couple of pages in my history homework. I was rather proud of myself. There was an epic fight with Chris's USB to try to get music onto it for me, but he just gave up and said he would go buy a new USB.

5:00 rolled around, and we were all kicked out so the school could close. Chris wanted to go buy a USB, and WuMart (which is the closest place to go for electronic goodies) was right on the way to my house. I wanted to see how much an iPhone would cost (I'm not sure about buying a cheap knockoff...that might be asking for trouble.) so I went with him. As it turned out they didn't have iPhones and weren't planning on getting more (that doesn't make any sense to me) so I just waited until Chris got his USB, and then we left. I hopped on my bus (he had to walk home) or at least tried to. It took about 15 minutes to get there, and I was carrying half of my locker and my computer on my back and in arms. When the bus did get there, there were so many people on it, you could barely move. It was great.

I got home just as my parents did, and I saw what happened to our car. Apparently it wasn't totalled (that was a mistranslation thanks to my sister) but was only dented and scratched close to the back tire. What a pain in the ass. They had been to the police department and the paint shop to report the accident and see how much it would cost to fix it. They didn't get the guy who ran into her, unfortunately. He took off.

The rest of my night was spent doing homework and talking to friends. My family made this noodle and lamb thing for dinner. I ate a lot of the noodles and some of the lamb. What can I say, I'm not a big lamb fan. My parents think I am though. They just gave the extras to the dog though, so it was okay. We are still good.

Now, I have to go to bed. So peace out, girlscout.
